Laredo, situated on the west Cantabrian coast, covers an area of 15.7 square kms with a population of a bit more than 13,000 inhabitants. It is one of the districts composing the Reserva Natural de las Marismas de Santoña, Victoria y Joyel [Marismas de Santoña, Victoria and Joyel Nature Reserve]. It is also one of the districts located on the coast of the estuary formed by the mouth of Asón river and Clarín river and is recognized by its stretch of dunes and sand, consisting of El Regatón Beach, and the bay formed by Salvé Beach (over 4 km of fine white sand).
It is 48 km away from Santander and 50 kms from Bilbao, thus being easily accessible by land and air.
